Archeological Excavations

Historic artifacts that were uncovered on the Fort’s site between 1970-1971 by archeologists from Indiana University. These include objects such as a pipe fragment, ceramic pieces, and a brass crucifix. Because at least three Forts existed at the same location in different time periods, it is hard to tell if these artifacts are actually from the 1778-1779 period. Nevertheless, even un-named people can be remembered by the everyday objects they leave behind.
