George Rogers Clark

George Rogers Clark was born in 1752 in Albemarle County, VA. Prior to the American Revolution Clark worked as a surveyor and explored the Ohio River Valley. In 1774, Clark received his first military commission to attack Indian villages in those same areas as a Kentucky militia leader. In 1778, he received orders from the Virginia’s Governor to set out on a campaign in the West - one that would earn him the title "Conqueror of the Old Northwest.”
